Senior Drupal/PHP developer at FishChoice • Part-time • Remote

FishChoice launched in 2008 with a mission to create tools and relationships that increase efficiency and transparency in the ocean conservation movement. We provide scalable support mechanisms for the seafood industry and for NGOs working on marine sustainability. FishChoice is focused on using web technology to help retailers, restaurants and suppliers source, sell and promote sustainable seafood.

We currently run two Drupal 7 websites to meet this mission— and They are both relied upon by core users for a variety of functions.

Over time, these sites have grown in complexity with new features, additional modules, views and a lot of custom code. They have older UX/UI and are visually outdated. As such, adding new functionality, fixing bugs, and maintaining and improving the sites has become a large of our workload and expense. We are also about to start a major visual overhaul of one of the sites (and eventually the other). We have been working with an external development firm for our primary builds and ongoing maintenance, but are now looking to move that work in-house.

We are seeking a Drupal/PHP developer to take the architecture, design and requirements provided by Fishchoice and develop and test upgrades, new features and fixes to our sites. If you can also handle implementing themes and the visual overhaul from our existing designs that would be fantastic, but otherwise we will bring on a second contractor for this depending on skillset, etc.

This position reports to the Director of Technology.

Security updates Module updates Occasional spot checks for critical site functionality General performance and functionality oversight Regression testing after updates/improvements

Can you handle this too? If you are our unicorn, this would add more hours to the contract. At minimum you’ll need to work with whoever takes on the role of refreshing our sites visually.

This position can be in office in either Portland, OR or Fort Collins, CO or remote. Ideally you would be within driving distance of either city for occasional meetings/work sessions, though that is not critical for the right person. We also take our conservation mission seriously.
